Saint Mary Magdalene
Myrrhbearer & Equal-to-the-Apostles
Saint Mary Magdalene was from Magdala in Galilee.. After the Lord Jesus cast out seven demons from Saint Mary Magdalene she became His disciple, following Him throughout his ministry, crucifixion, and burial.
After his crucifixion, together with the other Myrrhbearing women, she prepared fragrant spices to annoint the body of the Lord. On the third day the Myrrhbearing Women came early to the tomb. Seeing the stone taken away from the tomb, Saint Mary Magdalene, ran immediately to proclaim the news to Peter and John. She returned to the tomb and remaining outside weeping, was the first of the Myrrhbearing women to be deemed worthy to behold the Lord risen from the dead.
The feast day of St Mary Magdalene is celebrated on July 22.
